- They come on heat every 5 days which means they can fall pregnant
if they mate with a buck, this is something that needs to be considered
if you have other rats.
- More prone to mammary tumours and may have to have an operation to
remove it

- Larger. Adults weigh roughly 400-700g
- More laid back than Does - they are generally more affectionate and
enjoy cuddles and are more likely to remain in the same place for more
than 5 seconds!!

- Slight musky smell to their coat
- Their coat isn't as smooth as does
- Bucks occasionally scent mark their territory
- Bucks can become aggressive if their hormonal levels get high, if
this happens they may have to be castrated
