I currently have 0 Rats.. But i am hoping to get some by the end of this week. I have had 4 rats before and i have a Savic Freddy but i am considering purchasing a Ferplast Jenny. The Freddy is a bit worn out and smelly but i have a jet washer that i could use to clean it.. I dunno what to do though... Any recommendations?? |

I love the look of the freddy but with 2 aviarys I don't really need another cage Although............................ No No No. I don't!!!!
I did have a jenny cage and although most don't like the lack of access I loved mine!!!
It is entirely up to you, if you have GMC (get more cages) get a jenny, if you don't, give the freddy a good clean.

hmmm.. my mum keeps saying im stupid to buy another one but i dunno.. i just want a fresh start if you know what i mean. The last 2 rats i had i never really got the chance to be that close to, to be honest, both of them died within 3 months
Did you have any issues with the Jenny? I have heard the bars start to oxidise or something, any such problems? Or the access through the side doors? I like the idea of the top door.. you could just leave it open for them to explore and come out at their own will. Also with the Jenny there are no problems with the bars since there arent any.
Only thing i'm worried about is i dont want to spend like £120 on new cage and accessories just for the same thing to happen again.
See what i mean now? lol Its so hard to make a decision! |

Well I didn't have any problems with the bars in the 2 years I had it. But I have heard of people painting the bars in ratty safe paint such as Japlac.
My ratties were hardly ever at the bottom of the cage so the bottom doors were never a problem for me, I used to call my girls and they would run to the top of the cage where the big door was.
If I'd of known ages ago you would be after one, you could of had mine.
Have you checked ebay or anywhere like that, they usually have them on there for about £30. That way if you don't get on with it after 7 or so months you haven't lost £100.
Juat a thought. _________________ Karen.

Hello,
Im new here. Not even got my wee ratties yet... (bring on June!!!)... but noticed you mentioned the Jenny cage. I bought one from zooplus.co.uk for £60. This was the absolute cheapest I could find it, apart from a few on ebay but they were "pick up only". I hope this helps!
